The cap hit should ultimately be minimal. Just feels like bad business. Personally, I'm betting that it's a skillset replacement for Chinakhov who I think they want to trade. I think Chinakhov is best utilized as a very good checking line wing but the player might disagree. With Wood at least he knows his role even though the impact might not be so good.

Hope we go for a big short term contract to make the floor more comfortable

With the Provorov contract, this off-season officially gets an F from me. Let's see what Don has got up his sleeve for the remainder. I am terribly unimpressed with Waddell as GM thus far.

It's not good, it's really not good. The small signals of poor decision making and valuation have now added up to this.

Plan #1 is find an offramp for this deal. Maybe 2 or 3 years from now you can look to move him. That, or the only course is to tear it all down. Provorov and Severson as the longest signed players feels like a joke

Well, after seeing the clauses involved, I'm pretty livid.

I cannot believe they think so highly of this player.

Someone mentioned that perhaps the way things were going Wood was acquired to help reach the cap floor... I've still got fingers crossed he lands some better defense but know better than to get too optimistic. We'll see where we stand in a week
