So, putting together some past parts of this series, and the KJ questions. If (big if obviously) the Jackets were to use KJ in a trade, what do you think the framework would look like?
The comparables that come to mind are Debrincat and Drouin trades and the rumored potential Necas trade to CBJ.
Debrincat was 24 coming off 40 goals but had Kane doing a ton of work. Returned 7th + 2nd.
Drouin who didn't score as much and was on a PP with Kucherov returned Sergachev.
Necas was older, more established but also very inconsistent and asked out, Waddell was rumored to trade the 4th OA.
I think if you're not getting something better there's absolutely no reason to make the deal, 22yo on pace for a star is really what you're dreaming of when you make any pick top 5. That would be Chicago's 3OA which would require the Blackhawks to be massive fans of KJ's and feel like he's a key to keeping Bedard happy and unlocking his game.
Seattle would trade #8 in a heartbeat I'm sure but I don't see how they make up the value for CBJ unless a player falls that CBJ think is a top 3ish and they get a good 2nd and already have plans to trade that Minnesota 1st.
If Minnesota are trading Kaprizov, Boston Pastrnak or Dallas Robertson maybe he is part of a package but I really can't see any of that happening this offseason either way.
